Get prepared for Prominence

TEXT : 2Kings 9:1

And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramoth gilead.

Proverbs 24:27

Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

Introduction

*To prepare means to make ready for use or consideration.

*To make ready or able to do or deal with something.

*To put in proper condition or readiness.

To define the word prominence means:

*The state of being important, famous, or noticeable.

*The state of being easily seen or well known.

*Prominence is the state of being important, being famous or being obvious.

In the above passage, Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets to gird up his loins meaning he wanted him to tuck in flowing garment into a girdle worn around the waist area. This was to prevent the flowing garment from slowing him down which implied that the movement needed to happen with speed and haste.

Brethren, what is that flowing garment that can prevent your acceleration this year or prevent your expansion. It is either you remove it totally or gird it around your waist, in so doing you are preparing for your accelerated movement to get to your promise land or place of assignment.

God is telling you to prepare today. No one goes to a place of prominence and authority casually.

If you want to go the heights that God has ordained for you, then start preparing.

Prepare for the heights you want to attain, start working towards the heights, start preparing yourself for the future that is yet to come.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Prominence is part of God's plan for your life and to get there, you must get prepared. A man who knows he has a bright future must adequately prepare for it.

A man who fails to prepare is planning to fail in life. In any profession you find yourself, preparation is required.

Discussion:

6 Things to consider about your preparation for prominence.

1.Your Ramoth Gilead may remain inaccessible until you gird up your loins

2. Some opportunities may remain inaccessible until you prepare yourself for them.

3. Some realms of greatness may forever elude you until you break away from your comfort zone and prepare yourself for those high places.

4. If you don’t prepare, God may decide not to take you to certain heights because of your unpreparedness.

5. God deals with those who are diligent and committed to their future.

Psalm 84:11 ...no good [thing] will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

6.Some heights may lead to your collapse if you do not intentionally prepare and grow up to them.

Growth is an essential part of life.

As you are growing physically, you need to grow spiritually too.

2 Peter 3:18- But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Growing spiritually involves you knowing God personally through:

*Regular fellowship- Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

*Meditating on His Words- Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

*Prayer- Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.

1Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

*Commitment to service- Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Power of preparation

2 Chronicles 27:6 So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God.

1.Preparation is the fundamental key in the school of success.

2.Without preparation average life is guarantee.

3.The secret for excelling in life is preparation.

4.The major cause of failure is lack of preparation, and the only chance for greatness is preparation.

5.Preparation is the good intent towards life goal.

6.Preparation guarantees peace and build confidence.

7.You either prepare to succeed or subscribe to regret because you don’t prepare. 8.Those who embrace preparation will walk in peace and work with Joy.

9.Proper preparation prevent poor performance.

In conclusion, for every heights you have dreamt of, start preparing now. Prepare for your tomorrow and always involve God in everything you do because without Him, you can do nothing.

Prepare for your tomorrow and never allow it to meet you in a state of disorderliness.Take personal responsibility for your preparation.

Preparation says it will become simple if I can sit to work it and it will be hard if I neglect my part. Remember, proper preparation prevents poor performance.
